Job Purpose

The Driver/Transport Officer cum Office Assistant is responsible for driving the office vehicle, maintaining vehicle records, and ensuring routine maintenance. This role also includes various office assistant duties.

Specific Accountabilities

• Drive vehicles across various districts in Tanzania.
• Conduct safety briefings for passengers before trips.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records and ensure scheduled servicing.
• Keep accurate records of trips, fuel purchases, incidents, and vehicle condition.
• Serve as a positive role model while providing transportation services to staff.
• Review car requests with the Administration Officer, ensuring maintenance schedules are followed.
• Notify the Administration Officer of vehicle damage or malfunctions.
• Dispatch office documents and items around Dodoma by car.
• Collect and post letters, record incoming mail, and distribute them under supervision.
• Maintain proper records of fuel use and report shortages before trips.
• Assist with office errands, such as preparing meetings, acting as a receptionist, and handling administrative requisitions.
• Ensure that the stationery store is well-arranged and stocked.

Person Specifications

Essential:

• Holder of at least a Form IV Certificate.
• Valid Class A, B, D, and E driving license.
• Certificate from VETA or the National Institute of Transportation (NIT).
• At least five (5) years of driving experience from reputable organizations.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
• Computer literate.
• Not above 50 years of age.
• Tanzanian citizen.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Additional skills in other fields will be an advantage.
